MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- Tropical Storm Fiona exists in the central North Atlantic, but is struggling to keep its strength level.  More on this storm is available in the Hurricane Center section of wtxl.tv.

Trailing Fiona to the southeast is another blob of moisture, which had shown some vigor in terms of rain and thunderstorm development around a broad low-pressure circulation.  A moister environment and adequately warm ocean waters should support a gradual rate of intensification through the weekend and early next week as the system treks to the west-northwest in the open Atlantic.  There is still at least a week before a better idea of possible forecast movement can be made.

If this system is the next one to reach tropical storm status, it will be named Gaston.
