If you thought our winter weather of last week was wacky, check this out! On this date in 2009 snow fell in Hawaii. Places above 11,000 feet on Mauna Loa, which is also the world's largest volcano, and Mauna Kea, actually saw snowflakes. It usually snows every winter in the higher elevations of the big islands of Hawaii, however it doesn't usually stick, which is why this odd event was special.
