(WTXL) — A cold front could bring severe weather and a chance for isolated tornadoes to the Big Bend and South Georgia region Thursday.

LATEST DISCUSSION:

Severe thunderstorms are possible Thursday with gustier wind and an isolated tornado possible as our next cold front passes through between the late morning and afternoon.

The Storm Prediction Center originally issued a slight risk for most of our area, but scaled back the risk in most areas to marginal for Thursday.

ABC 27 is declared Thursday a First Alert Weather Day because we had higher confidence that a line of thunderstorms producing damaging wind gusts would effect many, if not all, local counties at some point in time Thursday, including during work and school hours.

There are a few details to determine when it comes to the exact timing and location for the strongest storms, so we will continue to update the forecast.

TIMING:

The unsettled weather from Wednesday will carry into Thursday morning and afternoon as a cold front passes from west to east through Thursday morning-afternoon. We should be cleared out by Thursday night but this line of storms will offer our best potential to see anything severe.

MAIN THREATS:

The highest threat will be damaging winds, along with isolated tornadoes and hail. Localized flooding could become an issue depending on rainfall totals from Tuesday and Wednesday as well.

There are still some details to determine when it comes to the exact timing and location for the strongest storms later this week, so we will continue to update the forecast over the next few days.

AFTERMATH

We'll cool down and clear out on Friday but we've got to get through these storms first! Be sure to stay weather aware starting tomorrow and have multiple ways to receive watches, warnings, and reliable weather information.
