MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- Tropical Storm Claudette is forecast to have a short life span as a tropical system as it travels toward the Canadian Maritimes.
Late Monday night, Claudette still had highest wind speeds of 50 mph, but it continued to accelerate in forward speed. The storm was moving east-northeasterly at 20 mph.
The ragged system is expected to gradually weaken because of the effects of shearing southwest winds aloft. The lack of warm ocean water will also lead to Claudette's transition into a post-tropical disturbance by midweek.
The storm poses no harm to the Big Bend area.
