LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) -- It was a rather fitting topic in this above-average fall season for the gifted education fifth-graders at Chaires Elementary in eastern Leon County Monday.
Chief Meteorologist Casanova Nurse presented a detailed talk and explanation about air masses and hemispheric circulation system to the students who had recently taken a unit on meteorology during their studies.
Concepts explored included how air circulates in the atmosphere in the lower latitudes via the Hadley cell, along with reasons behind different amounts of heating in various parts of the world, and how these features dictate the location and movement of warm and cold air masses.
Discussions about cold, warm, and occluded fronts, along with how a dryline forms, concluded the one-hour talk.
