MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- After a strong start to its life, Tropical Storm Matthew continues to gain organization with winds sustained at 70 mph, gusting up to 85 mph. According to the latest advisory (11am Thursday), it is moving west at 15 mph, likely becoming a hurricane tonight or Friday. Soon, a sharp turn to the north is expected to take place as a trough digs down to grab the system and pull it toward the Bahamas. Jamaica, Cuba, and Haiti are under the cone of uncertainty. Florida is not in the cone, but should still keep a very close eye on the progress of this system. Our region should also keep an eye on this system, as the forecast track can change.
