Troopers: Man killed, two injured after driving into trees in Marianna

MARIANNA, Fla. (WTXL) — A 61-year-old man was killed after driving into two trees in Marianna on Tuesday.

Harry Godwin died from his injuries sustained in the accident.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident took place on County Road 162 at about 4:55 a.m. Tuesday.

FHP said Godwin drove onto the shoulder of the road and hit two trees.

One of the passengers suffered critical injuries, while the other sustained serious injuries. Both were taken to Southeast Alabama Medical.

FHP stated no one was wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident and it's unclear if alcohol played a factor at this time,

Charges are currently pending.


Troopers say a fatal crash in Marianna is causing a roadblock on County Road 162.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred Tuesday morning around 5:59 a.m. on County Road 162 near Bumpnose Road.

Authorities are asking drivers to use caution when traveling in the area.

At this time, FHP has not released any addition information.
