While the Gulf of Mexico remains inactive, there is still some tropical activity in the central Atlantic. Currently tropical storm Melissa is over cooler water but with deep convection and little wind shear it is still holding a tropical cyclone status. This system is expected to lose it tropical features within the next 12 to 24 hours as it moves east-northeast with winds around 50 mph. It also continues to not be a threat to this area or the United States in general.
