TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The newly elected members of the Tallahassee CIty Commission have been on the job for about two weeks and starting Monday they will embark on a new task.
WTXL ABC 27's Jada Williams was live this Monday morning with a look at how the commissioners are getting a crash course.
The Tallahassee City Commission and city staff will embark on the Commission Tours Monday as an orientation of sorts for the new team.
The purpose of the tours is to give the team a behind the scenes look at the various agencies under the scope of the city.
The introduction shows the elected and appointed officials more about the different areas they'll eventually start to make decisions about.
While there are a lot of agencies and a lot to learn about city government, newcomer Commissioner Jeremy Matlow says that the crash course he'll receive on it all isn't the biggest challenge.
"I think the biggest challenges are community challenges and how we address them," he said. "How we bring people together and build a consensus to really put our best foot forward and really address some of the larger social issues that we campaigned on and people want to see addressed."
Matlow is also implementing open office hours every Tuesday between 11:30 and 2:30.
No appointment is necessary and anyone can stop by to talk.
