PERTH, AUSTRALIA, (Seven Network/CNN) - A 68-year-old woman's afternoon fishing with her son turned into quite the memory when she reeled in a massive haul.
Sue Elcock caught a 136-pound fish off the coast of Western Australia.
The family’s expectations were not high.
Elcock was enjoying some family time on holidays from the United Kingdom when suddenly there was a nibble on the line.
45 minutes later, Elcock, her son Simon, and a few others could see the outline.
The giant bass grouper was taller than Elcock herself.
"I couldn't believe it, I didn't even know what it was,” she said. “Obviously, I don't go fishing in England. I play golf."
The team reeled in the prize.
"The hand that was underneath was actually in one of the gills trying to hold it on my lap, but you just couldn't get hold of it, it was so big," Elcock said.
She’s now known as a legend on the boat, pulling in its biggest ever catch.
"I'm very proud of her, very jealous as well,” Simon Elcock said. “I'd said she wasn't even meant to be fishing, only to be watching."
There will no doubt be a few fish barbeques over the next few months.
