INDEPENDENCE, IN (WLFI/CNN) - On Wednesday evening, residents could hear and feel the explosion of a home just outside a town in Indiana.
"Just a large boom. It shook the buildings. You could feel it," resident Kenny Green said.
Rosella Jenkins, 73, was inside at the time.
"It looked like somebody should be dead in there, but miracles happen," Green said.
The 73-year-old managed to crawl out and was waiting when crews got there.
Jenkins was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital where she is stable.
"I was flabbergasted; how anyone could have crawled out of there alive. I just figured that was a miracle," resident Lynn Blankenship said.
As Jenkins recovers, the community is ready to help her get back on her feet again.
"They care about her, and if she needs something they'll step up and help," Green said.
