(RNN) – A young Canadian woman celebrated a very happy 18th birthday with a bottle of sparking wine and a lottery ticket worth $1 million.
Québec resident Charlie Lagarde grabbed a bottle and a Gagnant à vie scratch-off ticket the first day she could legally buy either.
When she got home to uncork her wine, she found out she was a millionaire, in Canadian dollars.
After thinking it over for two weeks, Lagarde decided to accept the grand prize in the form of a lifetime annuity instead of a lump sum. She’ll collect $1,000 – or nearly $774 USD – per week for life.
She plans to spend the money on traveling and learning photography.
“One of my dreams would be to work for National Geographic,” Lagarde said.
