NEWBURGH NY (NEWS12/CNN) - In New York state, an 11-year-old girl died when a tree crushed a car during Tuesday’s storms.
Authorities say the girl was in her family's car in Newburgh when the tree fell, trapping her inside.
Rescue workers worked to free her as the storm passed through.
They eventually got her out, but it was too late.
The incident comes as severe weather batters much of the northeast.
