NEENAH, WI (WBAY/CNN) - World War II veteran Len Erickson was awarded four medals for his time in the service, but received another one Saturday.
Erickson, 93, was awarded the Bronze Star at a senior care facility in Wisconsin with friends and family on hand for the ceremony on Veterans Day.
"I feel quite honored that this was taking place," Erickson said. "I never expected anything like it."
Erickson served from 1943-46 and was infantryman and platoon sergeant in France and Germany.
He did not know he could receive the Bronze Star until the Disabled American Veterans Department of Wisconsin looked into his history.
