WASHINGTON (CNN) - The White House is getting a makeover while President Donald Trump is out of Washington.
Construction crews got to work as soon as he left for Bedminster, NJ, on Friday.
The executive mansion is overdue for a major upgrade. It has not had a major renovation since the 1940s.
There have been reports of leaky roofs, fly infestations and a foul odor in the building.
White House staffers will work out of a building next door until the renovations are done.
Trump is returning from Bedminster after 17 days. He posted on Twitter that it is not a vacation, but he was seen in golf attire Saturday and Sunday.
