Woman steals yoga pants from fitness studio, caught on camera

MENLO PARK, CA (KRON/CNN) - The owner of a California yoga studio is hoping police will be able to catch a woman who they said stole yoga pants and other items from them.

The entire theft was caught on camera.

Outside Alkalign Studios in Menlo Park, a lady entered carrying a Starbuck's cup filled with water, a phone and a really large bag.

She placed her drink and phone on the counter and began to work out.

No, not the fitness kind of workout, it was more like the five-finger workout.

Owner Erin Paruszewski explained the incident.

"We're a functional fitness studio. We had a noon class going on, the door was unlocked and our desk person was out sick. Someone came into our studio and basically started rifling through things," Paruszewski said.

The big bag on her shoulder was soon filled with yoga pants and pretty much anything she could carry, all under the watchful eye of a nest camera.

She grabbed a hanging white shirt and another item. The video even showed the empty hangers left behind. She then ducked and slipped out of the camera frame.

She headed into a children playroom where there was no camera, and no sign of any employee around.

"A staff member asked if we could help her, and she said no I'll let you know if I need any help. We figured she was good, not expecting her to steal something," Paruszewski said.

She grabbed a pair of socks, then snatched about 10 more items from the store.

"She got a bunch of fitness clothes. She took a lot of Alkalign-branded wear so maybe if you see someone wearing our logo, that might be a tip,” Paruszewski said.

She tried out a pair of yoga pants, but they apparently didn't fit.

This wasn't your typical snatch-and-run bandit.

She actually spent about six minutes in the studio before grabbing the water, phone and stuffed bag.
