CASPER, WY (KTWO/CNN) - According to the Red Cross, 50 percent of blood donors are regulars.
But one Wyoming woman is not just a regular - she's one of a kind.
Marty Robinson has donated 30 gallons of blood, one pint at a time. That's 240 pints over 43 years.
"It's not hard giving blood at all," Robinson said. "I think it's fantastic that I can do so little and help so many people."
To commemorate the milestone, Robinson received a pin, but to her it was just another day.
Every 2 seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. That comes out to just over 43,000 people a day.
"Fewer than 50 people in the state of Wyoming have achieved that accomplishment," a United Blood Services representative said. "United Blood Services and the Wyoming community thank her for her commitment to giving blood."
The need for blood doesn't take a holiday, so donations like Robinson's on a snowy, 20-degree day are appreciated even more.
"We see firsthand the need for blood," United Blood Services said. "The hospitals are open 365 days a year, so therefore blood usage is 365 days a year. To see the commitment from people in the community is amazing."
Robinson said she considers herself fortunate that she is healthy enough to donate so regularly.
"It keeps me coming back, knowing that I can help other people," Robinson said. "God has given me good health and good blood and I can share that with those that don’t."
