Woman faces charges after towing kids in wagon behind car

SPRINGFIELD, OR (KEZI/CNN) – A woman is facing reckless endangerment charges after allegedly towing three children in a wagon behind her car.

Police say Alana Nicholle Donohue, 27, attached a small plastic wagon to her car bumper with a rope. She then drove circles around a roundabout Wednesday night as three children sat in the wagon.

The children involved are 2, 4 and 8 years old, police say. Donohue is the mother of the two younger children and the aunt of the 8-year-old.

Witnesses reported they pleaded with Donohue to stop, but she told them to “mind their own business.”

Police say Donohue told them she didn’t know why it was such a big deal, and she just wanted to show the children a good time.

"The reckless way in which an adult would take children in this fashion - children who have been entrusted in her care - is just completely unbelievable,” said Lt. Scott McKee with Springfield Police.

Donohue is charged with three counts of reckless endangering. Police have ruled out drugs and alcohol in the case.
