(RNN) – The White House is expected to soon provide the Pentagon with guidelines on carrying out the president’s transgender ban, multiple reports said on Wednesday night.

President Donald Trump announced the ban through Twitter in late July.

The policy will stop spending money on medical treatment regimens for active duty, and would deny entry into the U.S. armed forces to transgenders, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The report added that Defense Secretary Jim Mattis would have six months to carry out the policy, that includes granting him the decision on whether to rule someone out of the service based on their ability to be deployed.
