Watch a newly born giraffe try to walk

(RNN) - A baby giraffe was really wobbly on his long legs immediately after birth, but through some encouragement from his mother, he overcame the awkwardness.

Giraffes apparently have no chill.

The Brevard Zoo released a video, which they posted to Facebook, of the newborn calf's awkward attempt to get up walking.

The Masai giraffe calf, born on St. Patrick's Day, stumbled around like someone who celebrated too much on the holiday. The zoo said the as-yet-unnamed calf eventually got the hang of it after 45 minutes.

The little giraffe is the child of Milenna and Rafiki. He weighed in at 148 pounds and measuring 6’4” tall, the Brevard Zoo said.

His arrival is not just good news for his parents and the zoo. His giraffe subspecies "is threatened by habitat loss, poaching, disease and civil unrest in its native Tanzania and Kenya," the zoo said.
