(CNN) - Walmart plans to test robots to help fill online grocery orders with the goal of speeding up the process.

The pilot program will be tested out at the Walmart's Supercenter in Salem, NH.

The automation system, called Alphabot, is being developed by Alert Innovation. Walmart plans to have it up and running by the end of the year.

The system will be housed in a new 20,000-square foot extension to the store, which will have a drive-thru for customers.

Walmart acknowledges it's a small pilot test and they have a lot to learn about this new technology.

There are no plans right now to expand beyond the Salem store.
