(CNN) - Pomp, circumstance and pelicans!
A pair of uninvited guests swooped down into the crowd at Pepperdine University's oceanside ceremony in Malibu on Saturday.
One bird even made its way to the stage and nipped at school officials who were trying to shoo it away.
The pelicans eventually went on their way and the ceremony continued.
