A North Charleston couple was trapped in their house temporarily early Monday morning by a gator on their front porch.
Charles and Louise Monteith live in The Lakes in North Charleston and were asleep when they heard a banging and strange noise on their front porch which woke them up.
Charles went to the front of the house to make sure one of their cats or dogs didn't get out. One of cats was looking through the front window and he went over to see what it was when Charles saw the gator as well.

When Charles cracked the front door, he says the gator began to hiss and thrash at which point they called North Charleston police.
"He came running upstairs saying every four letter word he knew and I thought someone had stolen all our cars," Louise said. "I said,'what's wrong' and he said there is a gator on our porch"
A gator wrangler later arrived on-scene. He was able to put a clasp around its neck, then sat on it in the front yard of the house before taping its eyes shut and removing the gator from the yard.
