LAS VEGAS, NV (KSNV/CNN) - A home invasion in Las Vegas was caught on video, and it shows a bold thief tip-toe past a person asleep on a couch.
Surveillance video catches the chilling moments a home invader moves into a central Las Vegas house and steals a purse just feet away a person who is sleeping. "Two gentleman came over our back wall,” the homeowner said.
The homeowner, who did not want to be identified, says the incident happened Friday just after 10 p.m. at his home. "We were sleeping on the couch and the next day, when we heard there were fraudulent charges from an item that was stolen, we preceded to go through our video footage,” he said.
The footage showed two young men on the property. One image provides a good look of the thief who stole the purse. The video also showed the other home invader flip the middle finger at the camera. "Our back door unfortunately was open,” the homeowner said.
The homeowner says the duo were at his home for at least 10 minutes. One suspect even came face to face with the family cat as he stole more items.
"They could have took my car, I wouldn't care. It's the fact that somebody has the gall, the audacity to come into your home when they see you there,” he said.
The homeowners said it's hard to believe this happened. "We live in a guard-gated community. You think you're secure. But at the end of the day you know you still need to be careful,” he said.
The hope is the home invaders are caught soon. The people who live inside this house believe awareness is key. "What can we do as a community to make sure this doesn't happen again, or at least make it that much more difficult that people doing this are going to think twice," the victim said.
