KANSAS CITY, MO (KMBC/CNN) - Caught on camera: a car lost control and nearly slammed into a city bus.
Police say that same car had been part of a rolling gun battle moments before the crash on Thursday.
The bus barely missed disaster. A side view shows the car slam into a tree and power pole.
Another view shows the bus swerving to miss the full impact of the car.
No one on the bus was hurt.
When police arrived on the scene, the driver and a passenger in the smashed-up car had fled.
A shooting victim hurt during the gun battle was treated at a hospital.
"If he'd have hit it flush, some people would've been seriously injured," said a man from the neighborhood, who doesn't want to be identified.
He said he saw it happen, and sees violence every day.
"The bullets - when they started shooting - was just as bad," he said. "It breaks my heart. It used to be at night. Now, it's all day and all night."
In March, there was drive-by shooting at a stoplight. No one died then, but another rolling gun battle turned deadly in March.
"This is not the city I grew up in," the man said. "Police can help, but adults have to get together and say 'We don't want this going on.'"
