LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE, CA (KCAL/KCBS/CNN) - Bear vs. coyote. Who ya got?
The wild animals squared off in a California man's driveway over which one got the best meal.
A black bear and a cub were attracted to trash cans in Chris McDonald's yard. They were soon joined by a coyote who might have been after either the trash or the bear cub.
The confrontation was captured by a security camera.
The bears won the initial showdown and got their pick of the trash.
"The mother kept the cub very close, so it seemed well protected despite the efforts of the coyote," McDonald said. "I'm very concerned about the cub, and the bear itself. I'm hoping the fish and wildlife will come out and capture them and get them relocated to a safer area."
McDonald believes the bear was spotted in the same area a week earlier defending its cub from two coyotes.
