KENT, WA (KCPQ/CNN) - The Kent Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance identifying a man who held a barista at knifepoint at a coffee shop in Washington state.
Surveillance video captured the incident just after 4 a.m. Tuesday at Hottie Shots Expresso in Kent, WA.
Alex, a barista at the coffee shop who didn’t give her last name, is still shaken up over what happened to her coworker.
"I did see the video,” she said. “Watching it, I almost started crying, that is terrifying that is absolutely terrifying."
A man standing just outside, while the barista was not looking, climbed through the window, and forced her to the ground at knifepoint.
The man then forced her to leave the coffee stand with him.
Kent police said he led her to an alley nearby and tried to sexually assault her.
The man took off when another customer pulled up to the coffee stand and the headlights scared him away.
"There's concerns obviously that he's going to do it again," said Det. Melanie Robinson of the Kent Police Department. “He had a blue tooth in his ear he had an earring he had a distinct hat that was black with a brown brim all these details somebody's got to know who this guy is.”
Alex said she's extra vigilant working the stand alone now.
She said she keeps a can of mace nearby, and even though she just started working in the industry in October, she too has been the victim of a similar crime.
"The person who came here they had me at gunpoint and they just wanted the money," Alex said.
She just wants to make a living without having to fear for her life.
"Just catch this guy seriously why do people think they can get away with this kind of stuff?” she said. “We got his face he screwed up."
