SUFFIELD, CT (WTIC/CNN) - Crowds lined the streets in Suffield, CT, on Saturday as the remains of a fallen sailor were returned home.

Petty Officer Dustin Doyon, 26, was killed last month when the USS John McCain collided with an oil tanker near Singapore.

Police escorted Doyon's body in a somber procession as neighbors, civilians and veterans looked on.

Those present included a couple who had known Doyon since he was 4 years old.

"We just wanted to come out here and support Dustin and of course the family," Diane Phelon said. "Just to say how proud we are of Dustin."

The Navy said Doyon was one of two sailors whose remains were recovered after the incident.
