TEXAS (RNN) - University of North Texas student Chelsea Shaw said she received a receipt with the N-word written in the space where her name would have been after buying a meal at a restaurant on the campus on April 17.
The student posted her receipt to Twitter, where word of the incident gained steam, prompting an investigation by UNT.
Shaw said she placed her order with the cashier and immediately received the receipt in question after making her purchase, according to her attorney, Justin Moore.
However, school officials said the cook, not the cashier, was responsible and has since been fired. Shaw's attorney detailed his disagreement with the schools finding's on his Facebook account.

University of North Texas President Neal Smatresk issued a statement on Twitter and also said, "I wanted to reiterate that this action is contrary to our values. The use of this term and similar speech is never acceptable."
Our Mean Green family values respect and prides itself on inclusion. It is completely unacceptable and not who we are as a community. We acted immediately to identify the person responsible and that person has been terminated.
