(KPIX/CNN) - It's going to cost a little more to check your bags on United Airlines flights.
The airline raised the prices this past Friday.
The first checked bag for United flights in North America, Central America and the Caribbean now costs $30, that's up from $25.
And the second checked bag will be $40, rather than $35.
United says the increase will allow it to invest in what it called the "overall customer experience."
However, passengers with mileage-plus premiere status in United’s loyalty program, as well as customers who buy their tickets with an eligible mileage-plus credit card can check their baggage for free.
Last week, Jet Blue announced it was also raising the price of checked luggage by five dollars a bag.
