DONESTK, UKRAINE (CNN) - Prosecutors for the self-proclaimed Republic of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine said they are ready to hand over the remains of MH17 to The Netherlands, Russian state-run TASS reported on Monday.
"The republic's prosecutors declared readiness to further provide unconditional assistance to the international investigation," TASS said.
The Malaysian Airlines flight heading from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur was shot down in the Donetsk area of Ukraine in July 2014, killing almost 300 people.
At the time, the war in eastern Ukraine was underway between Russian-backed separatists and Ukraine national forces. More than 10,000 people have died in the war.
