(CNN) - The problems have continued to mount at Uber, as one of the company's top executives resigned.

Uber said its senior vice president of business, Emil Michael, has left the ride-sharing giant.

Michael was considered a right-hand man for Uber CEO Travis Kalanick.

His departure came after a series of scandals at the company over the past year, which forced an investigation into its culture and business practices.

Uber said last week that it fired 20 employees after an investigation into reports of sexual harassment.

On Tuesday, Uber will announce recommendations from a parallel review overseen by former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder.

Meanwhile, The New York Times reported that the Uber board is considering a three-month leave of absence for Kalanick.

Kalanick helped build the start-up into a nearly $70 billion company.
