LOS ANGELES (RNN) - Police arrested a suspected car thief without incident after a two-hour pursuit around Los Angeles.

Officials began chasing the stolen SUV around the Los Angeles area since 12:30 p.m. PT - that's a two-hour pursuit.

The driver of the black Ford Excursion pulled over to the side of an interstate at about 2:35 p.m. local time, followed police commands by lying on the ground, and was placed in the back of a police SUV.

Police have no confirmation that the suspects are armed but are treating the suspects as such.

The driver exited the freeway and navigated the narrow roads of downtown Los Angeles to avoid capture, but are back on the highway.

Local media reports a group of five California Highway Patrol SUV's were pursuing the stolen vehicle.

No reports yet on what is in the trailer.
