(WABC/CNN) - Twitter said it is taking new steps to cripple spambots on its platform.
The company's safety manager issued a statement Wednesday which said adjustments were made to Twitter and TweetDeck, limiting coordinated posts for numerous accounts.
Users won't be able to post identical or nearly identical content across multiple accounts at once and also won't be able to "retweet" or "like" posts from numerous accounts simultaneously.
The goal is to prevent users from creating or controlling accounts in an organized fashion to achieve a particular goal, such as making a particular point of view appear to have more support than it actually does.
Twitter would not comment on how many accounts it recently removed or verified.
