(CNN) - Donald Trump Jr. issued a tweet Wednesday morning linking the Virginia shooting to the Controversial "Julius Caesar" play. The new rendition of the classic work from Shakespeare has a scene that shows the assassination of a leader that looks like President Trump.

Trump Jr. cited a tweet from political commentator Harlan Z. Hill that said: "Events like today are exactly why we took issue with NY elites glorifying the assassination of our president."

The "Caesar" play has been harshly criticized, causing Delta Airlines and Bank of America to withdraw their financial support from the New York Public Theater.

Rep. Steve Scalise, R-LA, was among the injured in Wednesday morning's shooting.

In a statement President Trump said the alleged shooter, identified as James Hodgkinson of Illinois, has died from injuries he suffered in the shooting.
