Trump calls for return of most wanted fugitive from Cuba

Posted

(CNN) - President Trump called on Cuba to put an end to the abuse of dissidents, release the political prisoners and to return the fugitives from American justice, including cop killer Joanne Chesimard, also known as Assata Shakur.

But, who is Shakur, the former black panther who was convicted of murdering a New Jersey state trooper in 1977?

Shakur was the first woman put on the FBI terrorism list and there is a $2 million ransom for her capture.

Cuba gave Shakur political asylum and officials in Havana say they won't send her back.

She’s the godmother of slain rapper, Tupac Shakur.
