(RNN) - Tropical Storm Gert has formed in the Atlantic Ocean, the National Hurricane Center reported at 5 p.m. Sunday.
The storm is about 505 miles west-southwest of Bermuda, with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph and a present movement of 10 mph. Tropical storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles. Slow strengthening is forecast during the next day or two, the NHC reports.
The storm is not expected to make landfall.
