(CNN) - Staff Sgt. Patricia King, a transgender soldier in the U.S. Army, plans to attend President Donald Trump's State of the Union address Tuesday, according to The Boston Globe.
Massachusetts Rep. Joe Kennedy invited King as a protest to the transgender military ban.
King will be in the House chamber for the speech set for 9 p.m.
Trump tweeted last July that he would bar transgenders from entering the military, reversing an Obama-era policy.

King told the Boston Globe that after serving in the U.S. armed forces for almost 19 years she felt her future was uncertain.
Kennedy will be give the Democratic response in a separate location.
