MOLINE, IL (WQAD/CNN) – An Illinois business owner hopes to find an anonymous writer who sent an apology letter and money after he thought he scratched the man’s construction truck.

John Zelnio, the owner of Zelnio Construction, says he recently received a letter without a return address.

Enclosed in the envelope was a typed note and $40.

"Mister, I want to say I'm sorry. My friends and I were running across the street where your truck was parked, and my friend pushed me into your truck and I scratched your truck with my skateboard… I am sending you my grass cutting money for the insurance,” the letter read.

The letter writer also pledged to send more money after they finished mowing more yards.

“My dad said his is around a hundred dollar payment for things like this,” the letter said.

Zelnio is hoping to find the letter writer to return the hard-earned cash because he says the truck doesn’t have a scratch.

He also says the letter made him feel good because the person was trying to do the right thing, and he wants to thank them.
