COLUMBIA, MO (KRCG/CNN) - A shooting outside a mall left a teen with life-threatening injuries.
Police say the shooting happened late Thursday night outside the Columbia Mall.
A preliminary investigation revealed a man was placing a gun in his holster when the weapon went off. Authorities say they are unsure whether the shooting was accidental.
"We were literally just talking about how we thought it was pretty lucky that nothing happened tonight and then we come out and this is what we saw," said witness Brittany Huhn. "It's kind of scary to be honest."
Police Sgt. Clint Sinclair said they are interviewing people but don't believe they are looking for anyone else involved.
" There's nobody outstanding; we have everybody we need to talk to," Sinclair said. "Nobody was in any sort of danger. We have our detectives investigating, as well as our forensic evidence team but there's no danger to any shoppers or anything at any point during this situation."
The manager of the mall says guns are not allowed inside the building. No arrests have been made.
