OCEAN CITY, MD (WBOC/CNN) – The body of a woman from Texas was found buried in the sand on Monday on a Maryland beach.
The body was identified as that of Ashley O’Connor, 30, of Plano, TX. She was vacationing in Ocean City, officials said. People on the beach at 6:30 a.m. reported the body to city workers who notified officials, WBOC reported.
Longtime vendors who have worked on the beach for decades say they had never seen anything like the grisly discovery.
“This is my 40th year out here,” vendor Drew Hall said on Monday. “Never would I have imagined that somebody would find a buried body in front of my beach stand.”
The beach in the immediate area of the scene where the body was discovered was closed for a large portion of the day while the investigation took place, and the body was removed.
