(CNN) - Tesla is set to release its first mass-market electronic vehicle this week.
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, tweeted that the Model 3 passed all of its requirements.
The first vehicle is expected to be finished on Friday. Tesla plans to produce 100 models in August and 20,000 in December.
Preorders for the Model 3 started about a year ago. The backlog is enormous. More than 300,000 people have already placed a deposit, according to Musk.
The electric vehicles cost $35,000.
