SAPULPA, OK (KOKI/CNN) - A teen who wanted to be a cowboy is dead after leaving home on his horse and not coming back when the horse did on Tuesday.

After more than a two-hour search on Tuesday night, the body of Cash Lawrence was found by a family friend about 11: 30 p.m., police said.

The boy’s grieving family believes he was dragged by the horse to his death, KOKI reports. Officials are working to determine the cause of death.

The boy’s sister, Bailey, said Cash, 13, was handy around the farm, and wanted to be a rodeo cowboy. “He always told us he was going to live out of a camper and just rodeo every day,” she said. “He loved working, and loved the outdoors.”

Cash competed in track and was set to take part on Wednesday in a youth rodeo.  Services are planned for Monday.
