MODESTO, CA (KOVR/CNN) - Police arrested two suspects in Modesto, California who they said killed a 19-year-old woman early Monday morning.
The victim, Lizette Cuesta, crawled for 100 yards after she was stabbed multiple times then dumped from a vehicle. A passing motorist found her and called 911.
Cuesta was left to die on a rural road, but she was able to tell investigators who stabbed her before she died.
Officials arrested 19-year-old Daniel Gross and 25-year-old Melissa Leonardo in a neighborhood as residents watched the commotion.
“Well, I don’t know who they were, I don’t know them by names," said neighbor, Antonio Moya. "I would always see different people coming in and out from that home.”
Cuesta’s young neighbor, Jayden Silva, recounted what he saw from the top of his tree house.
“A lot of people were surrounding this house a lot, and there was a lot of cops surrounding that house,” said Silva. “They were making a little circle and we were right over there hiding."
Gross and Leonardo will be arraigned on Wednesday.
