HOUSTON (KTRK/CNN) – A high school student in Texas is being praised for his heroic actions after he stopped an apparent violent crime in progress.
18-year-old Luciano Villalobos was working at a grocery store when he heard screams coming from a library parking lot across the street.
He says a man, who has been identified as 45-year-old Leonard E. Jones, had picked up a rock and hit the woman in the face.
Villalobos sprang into action, running to the woman's rescue and subduing the suspect until police arrived.
"I was screaming 'don't you ever put your hands on a woman.' I stopped him, because I knew if I didn't do anything he would have majorly hurt her," said Villalobos.
Police arrested and charged Jones.
Villalobos was made an an honorary member of a local group that works on reducing crime.
