SOMERVILLE, MA (CNN) - A solemn procession moved through Somerville, MA, on Tuesday as police escorted the body of a fellow officer.
Officer Louis Remigio died on Monday from injuries sustained in a Sunday crash in New Hampshire involving his motorcycle and a car.
Somerville's police chief described Remigio as "brave, courageous, gentle and kind."
Remigio was off duty when authorities say a Mercedes Benz driven by 18-year-old Michael Ricci crashed into Remigio head-on. Witnesses say Ricci was racing with other cars before crossing into the oncoming lanes.
Ricci was arrested and is facing charges of felony reckless conduct. He is set to appear in court on Friday.
