(CNN) - Alex Brower a Milwaukee teacher is on day 12 of a hunger strike.
He says he is raising awareness about the lack of health coverage for substitute teachers.
Brower says he's going to keep fasting, marching and protesting until his demands are met.
"Many MPS substitute teachers are one medical emergency away from bankruptcy," said Brower.
Brower says other substitute teachers have pledged one-day hunger strikes to support him.
