ALEPPO, SYRIA (CNN) – People are starting to return to Aleppo, Syria.

CNN’s Frederik Pleitgen covers the budding signs of life in war-torn Aleppo, where the Syrian regime has retaken control.

Though the cleanup is slow and tens of thousands rely on aid to survive, businesses are returning and the people have hope that Aleppo can return to its former glory.

At least 300,000 people have died in the Syrian civil war, and millions have been displaced.
