ATLANTA (WSB/CNN) - Two students were shot in a high school classroom Thursday afternoon at Benjamin Banneker High School, south of Atlanta.
School police said they believe it was accidental. The school district said both students are recovering from their injuries.
Since Banneker High School has a strict policy against guns on campus, district officials said everyone involved will face charges.
School officials said there were reports of a loud pop.
When school police entered the classroom, they found a female student had been shot in the ankle, and the same bullet grazed a second student.
A small-caliber gun was found in a student's bag and school police believe it went off accidentally.
Administration banned all bags at the school on Friday.
One parent is calling for tougher security measures for the safety of all students.
"My mind was racing because easily it could have been my child or any other child," parent Evelyn Fields said.
