Stevante Clark arrested

SACRAMENTO, CA (KOVR/CNN) – The brother of the unarmed man shot and killed by Sacramento police last month was arrested Thursday.

Police arrested Stevante Clark, the brother of Stephon Clark, on a felony threat charge.

"He threatened to kill my wife. He threatened to rape her," said Alex Rouska, Clark’s roommate. "He literally got down right here and made eye contact with my wife in the kitchen and was like, 'You're done.'"

Rouska said the threats from Clark began Saturday – five days before he came home to find that Clark had destroyed most of his possessions.

Rouska said he and his wife weren’t home when it happened, but neighbors captured some of the commotion on video.

Neighbors said Clark was running up and down the block on Wednesday, shouting profanities and threatening several people.

Clark's friend Jose Mendoza said he tried to calm him.

"Everything will be fine, man. You’ve just got to go get treatment and want it," Mendoza said he told Clark.

The chaos continued overnight, as Clark pounded on trash cans and blared loud music in the streets.

Things came to a head Thursday morning.

"He ran from where he was living to a neighbor's yard, hopped their fence, and then the cops broke the gate and hopped the fence as well, and that's how they got him," Mendoza said.

Rouska attributed Clark’s erratic behavior to anguish over his brother’s death.

"This stuff with his brother broke him – it broke him," Rouska said.

Rouska said he’s enraged just looking at what’s left of his home. But even in the midst of the damage, he still has compassion for Clark.

"I am not trying to villainize that boy – he needs help," Rouska said.
